Liverpool boss gives update on players’ readiness ahead of Brighton clash on Wednesday

Connor Bradley could be in the squad after training with the team on Tuesday.

However, injury-prone players Diogo Jota, Alisson Becker, Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa are all ruled out.

Liverpool boss Arne Slots has provided an update on his team’s readiness ahead of their Carabao Cup last-16 clash with Brighton on Wednesday night.

“Connor [Bradley] trained with us again so he’ll probably be in the squad tomorrow (Wednesday night),” the Reds boss told a press conference ahead of the Carabao Cup.

“The others, like Jota, no, Alisson, no, Harvey Elliott, no, and Federico [Chiesa] no.”

When asked how long Chiesa will be out, Slot replied: “It’s hard to say because his condition fluctuates.”

“I don’t want to say days or weeks because I think we just have to make sure he’s in the best shape and not put too much pressure on him,”

Currently, Slots’ team has 4 players in hospital, including Alisson with a thigh injury, Jota (chest), Elliott (ankle) and Chiesa (unknown cause).

Arne Slot today officially begins his role as Liverpool Football Club’s new head coach.

The 45-year-old joins the Reds from Feyenoord and takes up the reins following the departure of Jürgen Klopp.

Slot will begin work with the squad when pre-season gets under way in July, with a three-game trip to the USA part of the preparations for 2024-25.
