Should I know about any possible side effects?

Every person using Cafergot is expected to know abut the possibility of side effects occurring sometimes. Side effects can be actually quite helpful indicating a problem (your dose may be too low or too high, or you may not be using this medicine right etc). You will need to stop using Cafergot and talk to your health care provider if you notice any of the following serious side effects: uneven heartbeats, trouble breathing, muscle pain, buzzing in your ears, numbness or tingling, confusion, problems with vision, sudden numbness or weakness, slow heart rate, chest pain, swelling or itching, urinating less than usual, sudden headache, blurred vision, severe headache, painful sores on your rectum, shortness of breath, leg weakness, severe pain in your stomach, or any other ones that seem severe. It’s impossible to predict each and every side effect you are likely to experience, as every person can react to different medications in many different ways. However, the side effects listed are most common ones and mean that something is wrong in your treatment. In some of those cases your doctor may actually tell you to discontinue the treatment, while in other cases a dose adjustment may do the trick. While serious side effects mentioned are supposed to be reported as soon as possible, less serious side effects can be ignored as long as they do not change in intensity.

The following are most commonly reported mild side effects: weakness, vomiting, nausea, mild itching, spinning sensation, and dizziness. These side effects can appear at the beginning of the treatment and continue for several hours, but they are supposed to go away after that period. If that doesn’t happen, and the mild side effects you originally had became severe and started to affect the quality of you life, it’s best to tell your health care provider about them. If you get any other side effects that are not listed anywhere – feel free to call your doctor about them to find out whether there are any reasons for you to get worried. Always inform your doctor of any cases of mild side effects getting bothersome, and you will see how successful your treatment can be. Sometimes people have to stop taking Cafergot because of side effects and sometimes they have their dose adjusted – everything depends on every particular case. Unfortunately there’s nothing you can do to avoid getting side effects except monitor them to see if they get worse or fade away.
